played first and missed a
couple of half chances, but his opponent missed virtually nothing and gave
Paul one of his heaviest defeats of the season, 8 - 75.
Mark Sutton's game went to plan and Mark
came out the victor pretty comfortably 55 -10.
Dave Thomas played some good shots in
his match but missed too many and, in the end, lost pretty comfortably 26 -
66.
Stuart's game was the key. He was
playing Darren Wood, their best player, albeit someone who is not at the
same level as Stuart. Both players traded 20+ breaks and then it got a bit
scrappy. Actually, there was some good safety on both sides, but it seemed
like Stuart had blown it when a safety shot on the brown went wrong. Darren
went ahead with brown and blue but missed the pink. Fortunately the pink
finished over the middle pocket and Stuart knocked in pink and black to nick
it.
It was important for him to win as he still has a chance of winning the
averages this season. He's level with Dave Brown and one behind Kevin Ellis
of Selly Oak XS 'A'. We still have to play them, so if Mark or Stuart draw
Kevin, it could be very interesting.
Frank Forde had to be drafted in at
the last minute due to Alan carter being unable to play. Frank potted some
reds, but not many colours. He could have won with a clearance on the
colours and they were in a good position for that, but unfortunately he
missed his chance.
