Sadly we lost 4-1 to Kings
Norton XS 'A' tonight, which was a pretty poor result especially as Mark
Sutton played for us again. Unfortunately, Luke got caught in town and
couldn't get to the club on time, but fortunately Mark was down at the club,
practising with Stuart and was happy to stand in.
Stuart had agreed to go and play a match
afterwards for a team in Hall Green who play in the Efficiency league and it
seemed he had his mind more on that match and was rushing his shots -
consequently, he lost.
Alan played their weakest player, but
he had a very frustrating evening. He found himself in snooker after snooker
- some of them played for, but others not. He must have conceded about 30
points in fouls and although he fought on doggedly, he couldn't claw that
back.
Dave played their best player, Pete
Wolfindale and Pete lived up to his billing with a nice break of 57 which
was too good against Dave, so that made it 3-0.
Paul was next and didn't play at his
best, but he also had a poor run of the balls. The one real good chance he
had in the balls, he somehow managed to leave the cue ball resting on the
pink when the slightest gap would have allowed him to pot the black and
probably put a decent break together.
Towards the end, he needed a snooker
and played a super shot to hide behind the pink, but there was a fraction
too much pace on the cue ball and it came out so his opponent could see and
pot the blue. That's the way it goes sometimes!
Thankfully Mark prevented the
whitewash, but he was far from his fluent best.
