CUP MATCH REPORT -  Rubery - 24th October 2007

It was a strange night against Rubery in the cup - we won three of the five frames but still lost the match. Alan Carter was drawn against Carl Rose, one of their best players and beat him fairly comfortably, albeit he did have a decent run of the balls it has to be said. On the other hand, Stuart Watson drew Lennie Drummond and lost by 16!
Basically, we were 23 ahead going into the final match with Luke up against Jock Irvine. Luke started nicely, but Jock came back into it. Both of them potted some nice balls, but no-one could put in a conclusive break and it was all down to the last five colours. Luke was snookered on the green, escaped pretty well, but left Jock a straight long pot, which he got and then cleared the remaining colours off their spots to seal victory.

Paul Haywood had a close match and just managed to get over the winning line by three points (60-57) while Mark Sutton had an even closer one, winning by just two points (66-64)!

Next week we are at home to Perfection back in the league matches, so hopefully we can win that one comfortably and put ourselves on the fringes of the top few teams.
