Well, we managed a very impressive 3-2
win against a strong Selly Oak side on Wednesday
Stuart was saying beforehand that he
wanted to draw Dave Brown and inflict his first defeat of the season. Well
he got his wish. Things weren't looking too good early on, but when Stuart
got his chance, he took it in some style and made a lovely clearance to win
pretty comfortably.
Paul played Alan Pickerill. Fair to
say that Alan was not at his best and Paul managed to get his neck in front
with a break of 21. He thought it was going to be a case of deja vu, as it
was last season he found himself well ahead of Alan, when he put Paul in a
snooker, which he struggled to escape from and he went on to win the frame.
He got Paul in a snooker again and he just failed first time, but managed to
hit it second time. Paul then returned the compliment with an even better
snooker which Alan missed twice, leaving him needing snookers. Eventually,
Paul got his chance and took it to seal a comfortable win.
Luke's game proved pivotal against
Mick McCann who beat Paul on the black earlier in the season. This one was
pretty close all the way through, but Luke just edged ahead. He needed brown
and blue for victory, but rattled the brown in trying to get on the blue.
Mick then played a couple of super shots, but left himself a very thin cut
on the black. He missed, but then so did Luke. However, it went safe and
Mick then played a poor safety and Luke potted a mid range black for a 3-0
lead.
Dave was up against Jamie Brown and
sadly was totally outclassed losing by 60 points in the end.
Alan was also well beaten albeit he
was rather unfortunate to get a horrible kick on the blue when he was on a
break and in the balls.
So, a 3-2 win which, bearing in mind
we were without Mark Sutton, was a very good result.
