We managed a 3-2 victory
against Perfection but it was one of those night's where the draw had a lot
to do with the result. It probably turned out that our best player, played
their best player and so on through the rest of the draw.
Luke Ellis played quite nicely but was
always ahead and managed to get out of some snookers which could have proved
costly if he'd missed.
Dave Thomas was actually behind almost
the whole game, but did enough to keep into contention. He even managed to
get ahead for the first time on the blue, but sadly his opponent then took
the last two balls to win.
Mark Sutton had a really scrappy match
and did well to string a break of 24 together. That proved to be the
decisive break as the balls ran unkindly and neither player could put any
significant points on the board.
Paul Haywood's game turned out to be
pretty one sided. He did not put any real breaks together, but got several
double figure contributions, whilst his opponent never got going at all. In
fact he needed snookers with 4 reds left and though he tried to come back,
he then missed an easy ball and conceded.
Stuart Watson's opponent played really
well and was easily in control. However, he left the final red on, which
Stuart potted along with the blue and with all the balls except the green on
their spots, Stuart really should have stolen it. He was perfect on the
yellow, but somehow missed it and his chance was gone.
